Due to the rising case of the infectious disease, COVID-19 in the country, the 36 Nigerian Governors have agreed to declare a two week covid 19 national lockdown.
The decision was reached at a meeting of the governors on Wednesday, 22nd April.
The national lockdown of two weeks was recommended by the 36 state governors in Nigeria in order to further curb the spread of the infectious disease.
Recall that as at 11:50 pm on Wednesday, 22nd April, NCDC reported that Nigeria recorded 91 new cases on Wednesday, making confirmed cases a total of 873.
Chairman of the forum, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, in a statement said the inter-state lockdown had become necessary following a continued rise of in number of infected persons and fatalities recorded.
Fayemi further stated that the governors also resolved to set up COVID-19 committees at the regional level to be headed by health commissioners.
The governors also expressed concern over the rising infection among health workers in the country.
