Nigerian Singer, Sound Sultan, Diagnosed With Throat Cancer In US



Sound Sultan has reportedly been diagnosed with throat cancer.

Popular Nigerian singer, Olanrewaju Fasasi, widely known as Sound Sultan is reportedly battling throat cancer at the moment in the United States of America.

According to Sahara Reporters who first shared the news, Sound Sultan, 44, has commenced chemotherapy in one of the hospitals in the country.


Healthline describes throat cancer as the cancer of the voice box, the vocal cords, and other parts of the throat, such as the tonsils and oropharynx.

This news comes as a big shock to Nigerians especially his fans and it also explains the singer’s slow activities on social media. 

We wish him a speedy recovery.




Sound Sultan has been in the Nigerian music and entertainment for over two decades with several songs and awards to his name.

He started his career in show business in the 90s when he hosted shows to raise money for studio sessions. 

He released his debut single “Jagbajantis” in 2000, which became an instant hit in Nigeria.

His last body of work was released in 2020, titled “8th Wondah” with songs like “Faya Faya“, “Ghesomo” off the project.


Sound Sultan, in 2009, married Chichi Morah, his long-time girlfriend, with whom he later had three children.
