Banky W Labels Adesua His Babymama As Court Declares Marriages Conducted At Ikoyi Registry As Invalid

Nigerian singer cum politician, Bankole Wellington better known as Banky W has left fans rolling with laughter after he took to social media to refer to his wife as a 'baby mama'.

This is following the high court declaration that marriages carried out at the Ikoyi Marriage Registry are illegal and invalid.

An ongoing legal dispute between the Local government Areas of Nigeria against the Federal government for the determination of who have the power to operate marriage registries, conduct marriages and issue marriage certificates.

The federal High court sitting in Ikoyi ruled in the favour of the plaintiff, Eti Osa local government granted.

According to the federal high court, it is statutorily the job of the local governments as provided by the law and only the local governments have the power to do such and the acts of the federal government through the ministry of interior operating marriage registries is clearly beyond their powers, which makes all marriages conducted by federal marriage registries or through their agents illegal and invalid.

Like so many other Lagos based couples, music star, Banky W who was legally joined by the Ikoyi marriage registry to Adesua Etomi in 2017, took to Twitter to refer to his wife as baby mama.
