American Actor, Will Smith Banned From The Oscars For 10 Years For Slapping Chris Rock


Popular Hollywood actor, Will Smith, has been banned from the Oscars for 10 years for slapping Chris Rock.

Recall during the live broadcast of the 94th Oscars Academy Awards on the 27th of March, the ‘King Richard’ star had walked onstage and slapped stand-up comedian, Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife 

Although he later apologized for his actions and even resigned from the academy.

However, as a disciplinary measure, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences banned him from all their activities for 10 years.

He will not be allowed entry into to any of the events for the next ten years.

The Academy confirmed the actor’s ban in a letter to members sent out on Friday 8th April, indicating that the 94th Academy Awards had been overshadowed by the unacceptable and harmful behaviour they saw Mr Smith exhibit on stage.

The Academy penned:

“This action we are taking today in response to Will Smith’s behavior is a step toward a larger goal of protecting the safety of our performers and guests, and restoring trust in the Academy.”

Recall that the ‘King Richard’ star had slapped stand-up comedian, Chris Rock on stage; Although he later apologized for his actions and resigned from the academy.
