Veteran Actor, Mr. Ibu Is Dead At 62


The entire Nigerian entertainment industry and Nigerians as a whole have been thrown into mourning following the untimely demise of one of their favourite movie stars, John Okafor popularly known as Mr. Ibu.

The veteran Nollywood actor, 62, died after battling with blood clotting in the leg, stemming from diseased blood vessels and other strange illnesses for months which finally led to the amputation of his leg in November, 2023.

According to Channels Television, a close associate of the family confirmed that the movie star died on Saturday afternoon after he was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Evercare Hospital, Lekki a few days ago following a relapse.

The President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, has also taken to social media to confirm the actor’s death saying;

"Sad Day for Actors Guild of Nigeria. Kate Henshaw lost her mother earlier today, and Mr Ibu suffered cardiac arrest, according to his manager for 24 years, Mr Don Single Nwuzor.

“I announce with a deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didn’t make it. May his soul rest in peace.”
