More Updates On Abule Ado Explosion: School Admin, Rev. Sis Henrietta Dies While Rescuing Sch Kids, Newly Married Couple Confirmed Dead (Photos)



The administrator of Bethlehem Girls College, Abule Ado, Reverend Sister Henrietta Alokha, has been confirmed dead following her efforts to rescue some of the students of the school during the explosion that rocked Abule Ado on the 15th March.




Recall Mimi's Blog reported that an explosion rocked Abule-Ado area around Festac town in Amuwo Odofin Local Government area of Lagos State on Sunday morning, 15th March 2020, destroying countless properties and houses including a boarding school, taking lives including that of school kids and leaving many badly Injured.



According to reports, a mass celebration was ongoing in the school when the incident happened and Rev. Sis Alokha was reportedly among those who assisted in saving the trapped students under her care but when it was time for her to leave, the roof caved in on her and she couldn't make it out alive.



Catholic Africa reported the incident saying:


"Rev. Sr Henrietta Alokha who until her untimely death today, was the principal of Bethlehem High School, Abule Ado was involved a petrol pipeline explosion this morning in Abule Odo, Amuwo Odofin local government area of Lagos State. 


An eye witness reported that: “The roof of our building is off and a nearby school is on fire.” Reports have it that she was able to rescue all the students until she succumbed to the fire. 


Eternal rest grant her, O Lord and let your perpetual light shine upon her. Amen"






Among those who also lost their lives that Sunday morning was Chisom Udoakonobi, a newly married pregnant first graduate, who was reportedly confirmed dead alongside her husband.











The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) put the death toll at 17 as at Sunday evening.


NEMA also revealed that the explosion destroyed over 50 buildings in the area.
