US Election 2020: Joe Biden Wins Presidency, Defeating Sitting President, Donald Trump

Former Vice President, Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. has won election as the nation’s 46th president, defeating the sitting president, Donald Trump.

He was elected the 46th president of the United States on Saturday 7th November, after narrowly emerging victorious from a contentious White House campaign that stretched days past election night, as vote tallies in several swing states were slowed by an unprecedented surge in mail-in ballots.

The Associated Press called the race for Biden on Saturday when it said that Pennsylvania's 20 electoral votes put him over the 270-vote threshold needed to win the Electoral College.

Mr. Biden's win also provided a history-making moment for his running mate, Senator Kamala Harris of California, who will become the first woman to serve as vice president.

Mr. Trump is the first incumbent to lose re-election in more than a quarter-century.

See result;

At 77, Biden becomes the oldest man ever elected president. (He'll be 78 by Inauguration Day.) He's also the first former vice president to win the White House since George H.W. Bush in 1988; the second Roman Catholic in U.S. history elected president; and he'll be the first president to call Delaware home.
